The Turkish Delight

My big boss came back recently from a 3-week vacation, roaming around Europe, including the Eurasian Country – Turkey. That’s one hell of life, I know. My biggest dream is to get lost around the world, and to do that while I’m still at my prime, and not a millionaire on wheelchair. Any job you have that comes with it? I’m sending you my resume! =D

I’m a traveler by heart, albeit for now, the only places I can stick on my scrapbook are that of some local provinces (that I love!), and several Asian countries where visa isn’t a requirement. But I’m not giving up on this dream, especially that Cebu Pacific has started a seat sale trend, which is crazy and brilliant at the same time, and Air Asia can bring you to London for not more than Php 30,000! It’s just too bad that I may not afford my favorite Coke in Europe. LOL.

Mother Mary's last home, before her Assumption to Heaven. It now serves as a chapel, and a destination for pilgrims and tourists.
And since I think my boss finds me useful, he brought me these:

Turkish Delight: Sweet chewy jelly with powdered sugar outside and nuts inside.
If we are of same generation, I'm sure you'll remember the bright red jelly squares with powdered sugar that you can find in practically any sari-sari store. Turkish Delight is very similar with that, minus the color and add the nuts. =)
And Because I’m a Europe-ignorant girl, I made google useful, and found these about Ephesus:

“Ephesus (Ancient Greek Ἔφεσος, Turkish Efes) was an ancient Roman and Greek city on the west coast of Anatolia, near present-day Selçuk, Izmir Province, Turkey. It was one of the twelve cities of the Ionian League during the Classical Greek period.”

“Ephesus was one of the seven churches of Asia that are cited in the Book of Revelation. The Gospel of John may have been written here. It is also the site of a large gladiators' graveyard.”
I’m a Catholic, but I honestly have no clue that Mother Mary’s house is in present day Turkey. (Do you? Am I the only one clueless here?) And thanks to the boss, I now have a piece of it with me. Years from now, when I’m more ready and able, I’ll fulfill that European trip of mine, and I’m amenable to skip shopping and cola. *wink*

Holy Water from the spring inside Mother Mary's house. Pilgrims drink the water which is believed to be miraculous.

See how great and infectious traveling can be? =D It got me giddy by merely thinking of it!
Have a wonderful weekend to all!

Much Love,
The NeuroChiq
